A call for immediate security intervention along Okigwe-Uturu axis -NAASS world wide cries out

Press Release

It's has become a life threatening situation amongst the inhabitants and Students within the Okigwe/Uturu axis, a case of the students of Abia State University, Uturu.

I have received with sadness the ugly news of some students of Abia State University Uturu, who were kidnapped yesterday on their way back to school.

Information has it that they are seven (7) in number and were kidnapped around few minutes past 6 along Okigwe-Uturu in a Siena vehicle registered under Tracas Transport Company.

One of the identified victims by name Emmanuel Nzubechukwu Ubani, a 200 level  Business Administration student who hails from Umuakpor Ovungwo in Isiala Ngwa South LGA, Abia State.

This has become a norm and very clear that students, lecturers and guardians are no longer safe plying through Okigwe-Uturu road between the. Day and  evening hours. The consistent kidnapping on that road is quite alarming.

We the National Association of Abia State Students NAASS world wide, and other student community are crying out for help, condemning the event of incessant kidnapping on that Okigwe-Uturu road.

It's worthy to note that the National President Comr Bethel Agbara, a time few days ago escaped kidnap on the said axis, we therefore say, enough is enough.

We hereby call on the government  of Imo and Abia and the relevant security agencies to help in seeking a lasting solution that will put a stop to the kidnapping incidents on that road while we advice students to always travel on the day time for now as a safety precaution, pending on when the perpetrators are brought to justice.
